Sunburn Relief Tips – Natural Sunburn Relief Spray

Bottle sun relief spray with yellow hibiscus

The painful burn of being in the sun too long. Over exposure in the sun when outdoors is easy to do. Your skin is hot, drying, you feel like a lobster. I know many of us have experienced this over our hot summers. There are good and effective ways to bring relief and healing quickly with items you have in your house!

You want to start treating burns immediately before they blister and peel. Cold water is the fastest way to cool down the burn and this can be used outdoors. Make sure you are drinking lots of water too so you can stay hydrated. Get in the shade away from the sun,  or have a good sun hat to wear so you do not worsen the burn.

Indoors, take a nice cool shower or apply cold towels gently to sun burned areas. Our cool wraps feel great against the burn. You can lightly spritz the area often with cool water. There are other natural remedies, you can make a baking soda paste, and bathe in an oatmeal bath or add vinegar to a bath if you are blistering to help prevent infection.

The easiest and most effective treatment we have found is spritzing the area with our all natural sunburn spray. Relief at last from that painful, burning, aching sunburn.

Bottle Sun Relief Spray

I made this all natural spray after researching and trying many natural remedies. Our family uses this for relief when we have a bit too much fun in the sun! It will moisturize your skin while speeding healing and helping to prevent blistering and peeling.

Skin nourishing, renewing and healing combination of oils for spraying onto skin. This feels much better than rubbing a lotion on a painful burn. Can use all over body. Keep out of eyes.

This Sunburn Relief Spray is mixed fresh when you order it. Keep some on hand for those long summer days when you know there will be sunburns. For a strong cooling effect and even more relief, you may store in the fridge. Oils are okay to leave out, but cooling brings even more relief.

Ingredients: Aloe Vera Gel, Witch Hazel, Raw Hemp Oil, Fractionated Coconut Oil, Natural E, Lavender & Peppermint Essential Oils

Natural Oils for Sun Relief Spray

Aloe Vera Gel
Excellent for itching, dry skin, psoriasis, burns, sunburns, and more. It soothes the skin and reduces inflammation and irritation, making the skin smooth and supple. Aloe Vera gel has been used for thousands of years and is one of the most commonly used natural substances for skin healing.

Coconut Oil – Fractionated
An excellent skin moisturizer and softener. It is easily absorbed in the skin. Coconut oil has many healing properties, and it is very good for the skin. It is one of nature’s richest sources of fatty acids. It is an antimicrobial, antibacterial & antioxidant. It creates a protective barrier on the skin and has lasting benefits. Fractionated coconut oil is excellent in massage oils. It is expleer pressed and then hydrogenated to produce the fractional component of the coconut oil. We use a natural fractionated oil with no traces of hexane.

Raw Hemp Oil
It is so good for your skin. Hydrating, it prevents moisture loss. It is rich in Omega 6 & Omega 3 essential fatty acids. These healing enzymes are absorbed directly into the skin. Hemp oil has carotene, phytosterols & phospholipids & many minerals including: calcium, sulfur, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium & chlorophyll. It feels smooth and has little natural scent. We use raw, unrefined oil for the most benefits.

Witch Hazel
An extract from the leaves and bark of a North American shrub. Excellent for skin, it is an anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, astringent, moisturizer. It is often used to treat sunburns to prevent peeling, blistering and flaking. Helps heal rashes, cuts, burns, poison ivy, bug bites and more.

Natural E
An excellent antioxidant. E is a natural healer. We use natural E, tocopherols instead of tocopherols acetate, to better penetrate skin. Acetate is lab produced and does not have all the benefits of natural E. E is a natural preservative. We have found that applying straight E directly to small scars or sores on skin will heal within a matter of days. Antioxidants protect skin cells from ultra violet light, pollution, drugs & cell damaging free radicals.

Lavender EO
We use the Lavender from Spain in this relief spray. We love it for the wonderfully relaxing, aromatic scent, calming nature. It helps heal inflammations, wounds, burns, and sunburns rapidly with it’s anti-microbial and anti-septic qualities. Very good for skin and mental fatigue.

Peppermint EO
We use the peppermint from Japan. It is known for its very high menthol content. It has numerous minerals and nutrients like manganese, iron, magnesium, calcium, folate, potassium and copper, omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. It relieves skin irritation and itchiness, helps to reduce skin redness, where inflammation is present. Good for dermatitis, acne, sunburn.
Strong, invigorating, minty, cooling. Aahhh!

By using the right oils, you can cleanse your pores of dirt and bacteria naturally, gently and effectively, while replacing the dirty oil with healing ones extracted from natural plants that will protect and nourish your skin.

Light breaks down some oils during storage and dark colored glass protects oils. Oils are mixed fresh when you order them and left natural or scented with a natural essential oil.

Argan, Sea Buckthron and grapeseed oils

To Use:

Apply to dry or slightly damp skin. Pour a nickel size of natural oil cleanser onto your fingers. Gently massage oils onto skin for at least a minute, using slow, firm motions, working deeply into your pores so that makeup, dirt, dead skin cells and bacteria are dissolved into the oil.

Next, wet a washcloth with hot water, and put it over your face for about a minute until cloth has cooled some. This is opening up your pores, removing the impurities and the dead skin cells.

Gently wipe the facial cleansing oil away, then rinse the washcloth well in warm, running water. Do this several times. Gently wipe.

Give your face a final rinse, pat dry, apply toner and moisturizer if needed.

Hearts & Love Series Powder Puffs

My latest project was these super soft and fluffy powder puffs. I had fun getting all the fur and lace and ribbons together to design this group of puffs. I like to line up all my options and with the ideas already in my mind, I start putting together the options.

It is always interesting to see what comes out of this process!! It is different than what I first envisioned.

The ideas have been in my head for almost a year, and I finally got the time to get to work. I love hearts and pretty pinks, reds, the flowers and lace, so I enjoy designing items for Valentine’s day!!

The process of making these puff takes time, and after the puffs are all finished, next comes the task of taking pictures, uploading and editing the pictures to post in listings online. I decided to make three sizes including the original small 3″ powder puff. I have it listed with a 4 oz jar of our natural body powder.

The larger body puff of 4″ has a large jar of body powder with it!!

And the extra large body puff of a whopping 5″ of fluffy softness!! These have all been posted on Etsy and our website.

Roll On Perfume Oil

Roll On Perfume Oil

These are lovely perfume oils with a strong scent. These sturdy 7 ml thick glass bottles with roller balls hold .35 oz of perfume.

Ingredients: Fractionated coconut oil, Cyclomethicone, Essential Oil or Fragrance Oil.

I am using fractionated coconut oil as a base. It is light, absorbs well and is non-staining.

I made a natural perfume using only coconut oil but we preferred that with a bit of cyclomethicone added. For those who only want pure, natural products we will leave it out, and the perfume still works better than store bought perfumes!

Cyclomethicone is a silicone base that stays on the surface of your skin, quickly evaporating leaving a silky, soft feel. It provides much better staying power to the fragrance and does not dry your skin out the way alcohol based perfumes do.

I are making these in all natural essential oils and high quality fragrance oils.

New Whipped Butters

I have worked for several days whipping butters and oils for luxurious hand and body creams. This is raw shea butter measured, ready to whip. I   I whip, whip, whip for hours and hours to get them ready. I made many small batches of several different varieties.

I made a whipped body butter with raw, natural shea butter which has a nutty scent, natural shea butter with added essential oils and refined shea butters which showcase their lovely fragrances.

The shea butter whips up nice and thick.

I will be posting these online to sell on www.craftycutiesbydesign.com and on my shop on Etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop/CraftyCutiesbyDesign. Many will be going for our next two sales days at the local VA Med Center.

This is a whipped shea butter and soy butter. It is a bit less thick but feels wonderful on the skin.

I even made a few natural hand creams while I had my butters and ingredients out!!

Next I will be tackling body frosting and sugar scrubs!!
